Parliament.am: National Assembly Deputies Welcomed AUA Lecturers and Students to the Parliament to Observe the Four-Day Sittings

On February 25, the National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings, passing by voting the bills and agreements debated on the previous day. The deputies resumed debating in the first reading the package of draft laws “On Making Addendum and Amendment to the RA law on Safe Use of the Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes” and “On Making Addendum to the RA law on Organizing and Holding Check-ups in the Republic of Armenia.”

The Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Vardan Ayvazyan and the key speaker, the Chairman of the State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee adjunct to the RA Government Ashot Martirosyan in their final speeches touched upon the deputies’ interpellations and gave clarifications.

Afterwards the parliament began debating the Programme of the Activities of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission, which submitted the Committee Chairman Robert Nazaryan.

The deputies addressed to the key speaker questions, which related to the activities of the Commission, the structure of the programme, the legality of turning off the resident’s energy by the supplier, the protection of the consumers’ interests, the possibility of reduction of energy and gas tariffs, the implementation of the new tariff policy in the service of the water removal and sewerage cleaning, the development of the solar energy, the counting of the gas price and the possibility of the rise of energy price while stopping the works of nuclear power plant.

By the proposal of the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan the deputies welcomed the lecturers and students of American University of Armenia, who visited the parliament and were observing the sitting.

Vardan Ayvazyan in his speech noted that the programme was endorsed by the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs led by him.

The NA deputies Tevan Poghosyan, Levon Dokholyan and Hrant Bagratyan delivered speeches on the programme.

The debate of the issue will continue at the NA next sitting.

The National Assembly ended the work of the four-day sittings.
